Our electronic recognition tagging system provides protection for both the mother and baby, through use of discreet but comfortable tags.
As soon as a baby unit is put on an infant, the tags signal is reported to the administration system. From this moment on, the infant is protected. The baby tag information is then displayed on the screen, indicating to staff that it has not yet had a name assigned to it. After a predetermined time frame (set by the hospital), the system will alert staff that they have still not assigned a name to the baby tag number. This alert is the same for both the mother and baby tags. Like the mother tag, the baby or child tag also issues a report if it becomes loose, or if the tag is tampered with.
Once the strap is connected and the tag is fitted to the mother, it looks for any baby tags within one metre to add to its memory. After 60 seconds it stops searching and then locks the baby tag (or tags in the case of multiple births) into its fixed memory. If the mother tag then "sees" another baby or child tag that is not in its memory, it will give a warning signal and red indication light, and report the mother's name to the administration system. The mother tag is also tamper-proof and will sound its alarm if loosened or removed. When the mother tag is discharged from the system, and a few minutes after the strap is removed, it automatically resets its memory. When a new strap is added to the system, the process will automatically start again.
X-tag is easy to install and operate and makes use of simple hardware and software that defines and controls your desired safe area - usually the maternity ward - allowing free movement of mothers and infants within this zone. A Windows XP compatible Server host PC, typically located in the nurses' administration area, monitors and controls the system. This can easily network with other locations to provide additional applications and capabilities. Xtag readers are deployed at key exits and locations throughout the safe area, relaying tag signals within a 30 metre range to the host PC. In the event of an alarm, this PC triggers SMS text or email alerts. Powered by a 12v uninterruptible power supply, the readers relay alerts to the administration system, which can then generate alarms and alerts, start CCTV and trigger door locks.
Xtag software additionally displays a list of all tag wearers, in alphabetical order, and logs all events, times, dates and action taken. Levels of detection can be adjusted and administrators can swiftly recall logged events by date, time, operator or tagged name. This database can then be exported and shared via third party software, such as Microsoft Access.
